PEN Studio

Housing in the old town of a northern town. The project maintains the character of the place, stripping the architectural elements inside, respecting the construction characteristics. Whitewashed walls and ceilings seek to create a calm visual context to make room for views of the Cantabrian Sea that penetrate and extend throughout the width of the living room. A large framed terrace offers the possibility of enjoying the landscape through an architecture that protects the viewer in all seasons of the year.

The design of this apartment in a farmhouse on the Biscay coast focused on the architectural reinvention of the space, with the idea of discovering all the coverings of the space in order to undress the original architectural elements and that these were the ones that gave shape to a single volume.

Located on a slope of the Pyrenees, this apartment addresses the challenge of maintaining the essence of the architecture of the '80s in which it was built. The classic pine wood wall coverings invite us to make a reinterpretation, seeking a mirrored application as a sandwich on floors and ceilings, enhancing the feeling of packing and warmth in the space. The proposal optimizes the sensation of warmth against a necessary climate such as that of the Pyrenees.

The place of this winery is located in the foothills of the Sierra de Las Nieves (Ronda), a space cataloged within the World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO. The development of the project is proposed in carrying out an integral intervention of the four areas that form the backbone of the project, with the aim of improving the visitor experience: Tasting room, Outdoor tasting area and product store.
