The aim in this lodging was to create small spaces within the general volume, to allow each family member to create their own atmosphere and enjoy their leisure time reading, cooking, listening to music and sleeping.
The space can be clearly divided in two areas: the private and the social areas.
In the private area, the dressing room, the bedroom and the main bathroom are located. Both the bedroom and bathroom form a single space separated by a foldaway door on oak wood. Despite its dimensions, the door stands out due to its lightness and folding system, as well as the white lacquered MDF cavities with visible sidewalls.
The detail of combining oak wood and white lacquered MDF, makes it the most significant construction element in the house, a detail to be further found on furniture, frames and doors in its two varieties. A white line stands out in it, cut through on some occasions and prominent on others.
Three volumes purposely stand out on the front part of the house: the kitchen, the couch and the library; all of them framed by the former mentioned construction detail.
The custom made couch is located within this wooden cube, framing the fabulous views towards Hendaye and the Bidasoa river mouth. The aim was to create a very comfortable and cosy rest area, as reading and music are daily activities in the house.
The kitchen is the large window facing the living room, a square functional area, clean, with simple lines which faces the view outside.
The library is the piece of furniture that links both parts. It consists of 4 different depth modules, where the combination of wood panels creates larger areas, which allow the possibility of working on the computer or storing cd's in smaller spaces.
We wish to thank Lidia for her contribution with the couch tissues, which are part of Loreak Mendian®'s clothing brand collection.
