The attic is at the highest point of the old town, enjoying beautiful views, this apartment is conceived as a balcony overlooking an amazing view. located on a single floor distributed in living-dining room, kitchen, terrace, toilet, main bedroom, bathroom and work area.
Our main goal was to liberate spaces unknown and abandoned by the lodging's old architecture, recovering the natural structure of wooden beams, to unveil the natural shape of the ceilings, corresponding to the building's roof. From this premise, a space divided in two areas was proposed: day and night.
Natural airings, as well as abundant natural light, are granted in every room through the inner distribution and the large windows dominating both of the apartment's facades.
On the day area -east oriented- the kitchen and the living-dining room are located, directly projected outwards to a great terrace, as a watchtower of the encounter of Bidasoa River and the Bay of Biscay.
The night area -west oriented- is presented as a strategic point to locate the rest area, a lace to watch the sunset at the end of the day. Bedrooms and toilets are located in the sloping ceiling parts, thus creating a cosy comfortable atmosphere.
Both areas are linked through an asymmetric corridor traversing the apartment, created by the encounter of the higher and the lower part of the lodging.
The furniture and woodwork are intended to merge classical and contemporary styles. The selection of contrasted woods and its combination with classical moldings, provide very significant finishes, seen on details inside as well as outside. The furniture and woodwork have been exclusively designed and developed for he project.
