Concept shop for Loreak Mendian clothing brand in San Sebastián.
In collaboration with Fernando Iriarte.
The project emerged when Loreak Mendian decided to close down their first shop, located at the port in San Sebastián, to relocate it at Sagües, a space projected towards Gros beach.
The main idea of the project offered the opportunity to recover and recycle materials, details and objects, moving the essence of the old shop to its new location.
A space designed with simplicity where natural materials such as wood and encaustic tiles are mixed under quality handcrafted finishes.
Four different areas stand out in the space, marked by the combined use of materials:
A front mural at the entrance door, panelled with pine tree wood cubes, randomly cut in similar size squares and laid out by the brand?s employees, directed by Xabi.
The stair's handrail:
A geometric construction gambling with strips and shelves, as well as a closing gate giving access to the basement floor through a traditional weight mechanism.
The units, reminding of gym wall bars will be used to hang the garments. This furniture is aimed to transmit a 'home-made' feeling, reinforced through the construction approach and used materials.
Diverse ceramic mosaics placed in patchwork with recycled wood from the old shop.
